Everything We Know About Luck 2

About Luck 2

Apple TV+’s Luck was released on August 5, but its story could potentially set up a sequel. Here’s everything there is to know about Luck 2.

Apple TV+’s first original animated feature Luck debuted on the streaming platform on August 5 – here’s everything we know about a potential Luck 2 to continue telling the adventures of Sam (Eva Noblezada) and Bob (Simon Pegg). The fantasy comedy was initially announced in 2017 as a joint project by Paramount and Skydance Animation as part of their multi year deal with Skydance Animation Madrid. Luck ended up being distributed by Apple TV following the deal between Skydance Animation and Apple Original Films, which set up a partnership between the two for both live-action and animated films.

Luck centered on Sam and her chance encounter with Bob, a lucky black cat. Their unexpected meeting brought her to the magical Land of Luck, where good and bad luck are made. Sam and Bob’s adventures let them meet so many interesting characters, including Babe, the dragon CEO of the Good Luck factory (Grace & Frankie star Jane Fonda), whose help they ended up needing when it was time to save both the Land of Luck and the world.

A Fresh Start – Nollywood Movie

Luck’s story was quite self-contained, especially considering the type of challenges its characters had to face. Still, its characters were well developed and went through changes in the movie, making a potential future revisiting of their lives and the Land of Luck interesting. Here’s everything we know about Luck 2.

Is Luck 2 Happening? & Predicted Release Date

As Luck was just released on August 5, there are no talks about Luck 2 happening yet. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen in the future, as a sequel is possible if Luck finds success among audiences and critics alike. It took slightly more time to make Luck, as not only it happened during the Covid-19 pandemic, but it also started as a project of Paramount and Skydance before becoming a joint one of Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation. It took around three years for Luck to be completed after Apple and Skydance reached a deal. Presumably, Luck 2 would take around the same amount of time.

How Luck’s Ending Sets Up A Sequel – What The Story Could Be

Were Luck 2 to be greenlit, it would definitely follow both Sam and Bob, as Luck’s ending set them up as each other’s forever family. Considering how the found family trope was a cornerstone of Luck’s themes and how Sam and Bob stayed in good relationships with both parts of the Land of Luck’s inhabitants, they could plan a trip back there to help them with something new. Even better, considering Luck was all set in the Land of Luck, Luck 2 could be set in the human world, which inhabitants of both Good and Bad Luck parts could reach to face their next challenge with the help of Sam, Bob, and Hazel (Adelynn Spoon).

Luck 2 Returning Cast: Who Could Return?

Luck’s ending cemented Bob and Sam as a family, so Luck 2 would probably focus on them as protagonists. Given Bob’s friendship with both Gerry (Colin O’Donoghue) and Rootie (John Ratzenberger), they could also probably be back on their next potential adventure, along with Hazel, Sam’s closest friend. Finally, Babe the dragon’s reappearance would also make sense, especially if Luck 2’s challenges were to endanger the Land of Luck.

What’s Next From Apple’s Animation Deal?

Apple and Skydance’s deal to rival Disney Pixar’s productions includes more 3D animation movies and TV shows after Luck. While there is no set release date, Apple Original Films and Skydance Animation are reportedly working on the highly anticipated film Spellbound and the animated series The Search for WondLa. While it’s yet unknown who will distribute them, Skydance is also set to work on two more films, Pookoo and Ray Gunn. If Luck 2 were to happen, it would probably have to wait after all these projects see the light.
