In an awesome piece of fan art, King Kong is transformed into one of Dragon Ball’s Saiyan Great Apes and made a member of the fearsome Frieza Force.
Brazilian illustrator and artist Samuka has done it again with a jaw-dropping piece of Dragon Ball fan art that portrays the mighty King Kong as a Saiyan Great Ape.
The Saiyan Great Ape is a transformation most Saiyans experience when in the presence of a full moon. As a result of the transformation, a Saiyan will grow 50 feet or more in height, and thousand of pounds in weight. In addition to the massive increase in size that the transformation brings, there is also a significant decrease in a Saiyan’s control over their rationality and reason. As a result, when in the Great Ape form, Saiyans are known to go on wild rampages that, combined with their size and strength, can lead to widespread death and destruction. When Goku first turned into a Great Ape as a toddler, he killed his adoptive father Gohan, one of the best martial artists around.

In an April 2022 post to his Instagram post, Samuka uploaded a photorealistic image of King Kong in Saiyan battle armor. It’s a great shot of Kong as a member of the Frieza Force, the special military unit of Frieza’s army composed entirely of Saiyans that was created after the destruction of the Saiyan homeworld Vegeta. Knowing the destructive power of the Saiyan Great Ape, Freize often used them to crush his enemies, and otherwise succeed where his other units often failed.
Breaded Life – Nollywood Movie
Under the light of the moon, Kong’s face, with the telltale red eyes, and “thousand-yard stare” of the Saiyan Great Ape, exudes the ferocity lying just below the surface ready to break free. While Kong’s general appearance mirrors the depiction of the Great Ape in the manga, there are some subtle differences that Sumuka expertly addresses in the image. For instance, Kong’s ears are adjusted to better replicate the more pointy shape of the Great Ape’s ear. He also gives Kong the spiky hair that is commonly found on Saiyans in their normal form, as well as a tail, which is necessary for the transformation.
With the destructive ability that fans have seen from King Kong since his first appearance in the 1930s, Sumaka’s fan art use of Kong as a Saiyan Great Ape fits the role perfectly. In presenting King Kong as he would appear if he were a member of Dragon Ball‘s Frieza Force, it is not hard to envision Frieza unleashing Sumuka’s Kong to lay waste to an opponent in the same violent rage he often saves for his enemy Godzilla.
