Snapchat users can pin a conversation to the top of the Chat screen so that a Snap is never missed. Snapchat continues to be a popular option for staying in touch with friends and family or meeting new people in general. Although the chat service has pioneered features that have since been copied by many other social networks, it is still missing some of its own. While pinning conversations is not one of those missing features, the option to pin a conversation is not available to both Android and iOS users.
One of the key features of Snapchat is the ability to chat with other users. Whether sending a Snap to someone that disappears afterwards, or sharing with others in a larger group, Snapchat offers a fun alternative to other chat and social media apps and services. For power users, pinning a conversation can be particularly useful as it guarantees important chats remain glued to the top of the chat section of the app.
Pinning a conversation with someone else is fairly simple to do through the app. To pin a conversation, swipe right to switch from the Camera screen to the Chat screen. Then simply, press and hold on a friend (or group) until the menu appears. From here, tap on Chat Settings before finally tapping on Pin Conversation. Once done, the pinned chat will remain at the top of the user’s Chat screen. Unlike some other features on Snapchat, the other user won’t be alerted when a conversation with them has been pinned.
No Pinning For Android Users Yet
Unfortunately for Android users, the option to pin a conversation is not yet available. Due to this, those accessing the Android version of the Snapchat app will need to wait until pin support goes live and, at present, it remains unclear when that will happen. Considering Snapchat first started testing pinned conversations on iOS back in 2019, Android users probably shouldn’t hold out on support arriving anytime soon.
It is not unusual for developers to focus new features on iOS over Android, and this is particularly true for those still in testing. This is in spite of Android having apparently become a more popular operating system for Snapchat users than iOS. With fewer device models to account for, iOS is often the preferred testing ground and that includes for any features Snapchat is working on. For example, the App Appearance section needed to enable dark mode on Snapchat is still only accessible on iOS devices.
