Apple’s next event take place soon and the website has a fun AR surprise in the form of a floating logo that transports the viewer to a calming lake.
Apple recently announced the date for its hotly anticipated September event, and like previous announcements, the company included a fun little augmented reality Easter egg in the invite. Apple has a history of including augmented reality in its announcements. Earlier in the year, the company showed a floating date and a spring for an upcoming Apple Event. This is normally a fun little way to show off Apple’s growing augmented reality capabilities and as the company’s advancements in the field grow, so do the Easter eggs.
The next Apple Event is, by its very nature, highly anticipated. Taking place on September 14, it is expected that the iPhone 13 is set to be revealed at the event. The latest iPhone is rumored to include an A15 chip as well as a smaller notch and improvements to the cameras. Longer battery life than the current iPhone 12 is also something that might be on offer. Whatever the case, Apple has reportedly ordered large quantities of iPhone components in expectation that demand for the new iPhone will be high. In addition to the iPhone, it is also possible that new AirPods and the Apple Watch Series 7 might be revealed during the event.
To access the Easter egg, the user must be running an up-to-date version of iOS device and have access to a stable Wi-Fi connection. From here, head over to the Apple Event website in Safari or Firefox, tap the big Apple logo and the phone will automatically switch to the camera app. The Apple logo will then be visible in the user’s surroundings and the user can even walk towards the logo to enter it. At which point they will be able to see a much more impressive view of what is a lake at night. You can see a example of how the Easter egg works in this Tweet from Apple’s Greg Joswiak.
A Taste Of What’s To Come
While one might assume this is a hint at ‘Apple Glasses,’ that’s unlikely to be the case due to the lack of recent leaks or information regarding the new wearable from Apple. There has been no recent concrete news about how such a device would look, whether it be a pair of glasses or contact lenses. The most likely outcome from the inclusion of the augmented reality Easter egg, if any, would be potential improvements to AR software or additional capabilities that have been added to Apple’s products.
The next Apple event is due to take place on September 14 at 10:00 AM PDT / 1:00 PM EDT and can be watched either via the Apple website or through the Apple TV app. Although the iPhone 13 is rumored to appear at this event, the iPhone 14 has already, supposedly, been leaked online featuring a notch-less display.
