How to Unlock the Secret Waters Commendation in Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves recently launched one of its best Tall Tales adventures yet, bringing to life the mystic world of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean. This journey across the Sea of Thieves brings players to various locations, including the Sea of the Damned, Sailor’s Grave, Davy Jones’s Tower, and The Black Pearl herself. Players will be sent across five different Tall Tales in this crossover to bring an end to Davy Jones’s advancement into the Sea of Thieves.

Naturally, it wouldn’t be a full-length adventure if there were not any side objectives for players to complete as well. These take place in the form of Commendations, yielding various rewards from weapons, ship cosmetics, and more. Players will have to complete a number of tasks, and while some have clear objectives others can be a bit trickier to complete with little in-game direction.

How To Unlock The Secret Waters Commendation In Sea Of Thieves

The Secret Waters Commendation can be earned near the start of the Coral Fortress during the Dark Brethren Tall Tale. Players familiar with the Tall Tale, they’ll recall that there are two water slides that allow passage through the Coral Fortress. Secret Waters is unlocked in the first water slide.

To start, allow Captain Jack Sparrow to open the locked stone door. Continue to follow him through the several small areas on the way to the first water slide. Eventually, Captain Jack Sparrow ends up slipping down a water slide, backward and completely out of sight. Do not follow him down the slide.

This is the tricky part. To unlock the Secret Waters Commendation, players will need to hold “right” on their movement method throughout the entire first water slide. On an Xbox controller, this means holding the left analog stick to the right while going down the water slide. For players using a mouse and keyboard, hold D while going down the water slide. Rare Thief has reported that holding down the “Right Arrow” key will not move players towards the secret pathway.

Heading “right” down the first water slide will lead players back to the main path and unlock them the Secret Waters Commendation. Afterward, the Dark Brethren Tall Tale continues by following Captain Jack Sparrow.
